Hey everyone, I thought it would be faster to post this instead of searching through everyones post. I have a KADE and I'm gonna be swapping it in over the winter here but before i do i want to do a couple things:

I would like to do a rebuild on this motor with some "light performance modifications" to the motor as well as turbo setup. I was thinking a T25 - i'd like to be pushing around 200 hp. here is my questions for you:

any advice on the motor aspect? (cam specs, internals, bore size ect)
on clutches and flywheels?
turbo setups?
looking to spend around $2-3000, so any advice on building KA's or just the swap in general let me know....

stuff i've been lookin at - let me know what you think:

You'd have better luck asking that here, a forum for exactly what you're planning to do.

(No offence Julie, though $100 is very cheap and a steal) If you have a KA24 mate you'd want at least a T28 or similar like one off an s14 silvia or something for a 2.4L engine.

Like maybe 4 members here have KA's, I don't think any of them are KA-t. And only a couple of those KA's even run in those s12's. You'll find all your answers here dangina, seriously.

Why is everybody having such a hard time getting these things to run with a KA? Mine runs great! Unless the engine had issues to begin with this is a fairly straitforward swap. I say turbo the damn thing man! Just keep in mind that you may have need of a fabricator as I am pretty sure that all of the available manifolds for a S13/S14 w/ a KA are too tight a fit for our chassis. Not having tried I am not sure but you will most likely have to have one modified. Good luck man!

Smallest sized turbo on ka I would go is sr20 t25g. The t25g spools very quickly with the ka but power starts dropping off around 4500-5000rpm's. Unless your looking for more than 300-350whp a medium or large sized t28 is really the way to go on the ka24de's.

I think the t25 off a sr should give you the 200 you are looking for with no problem. you could just run some sr injectors. you can usualy find them on forums for less that $100 . then add the rom tune. but like redneck says you will start to lose the power in higher rpm. but with the 3k you have to spend you should have enough have do do more than a t25 setup. I wouldn't but that ebay turbo kit. you could probably do better in the long run putting a kit together your self. if I were you I would start looking at top mount manifolds and may be the revhard cast mainfold so you dont have to worry about it cracking. I have the IAP manifold on my kat. it cost $600 and it has cracked 3 times. I have had to keep re welding it. and the down pipe with that ebay kit will probably not work on the s12. I tried one on my sr and I would have had to cut it up so bad to make it work it wasnt worth it. as for a turbo find a good t3/t4 or if you want to spend some money on a nice turbo go with a garrett r series turbo. you should also get some nice injectors probly 550cc so if you want alittle more power you will have the fuel. and get a cometic. kat.org will be your new best friend

if you have 3k too spend buy a JGS turbo kit, or Greddy. Although You will have to get a custom downpipe made

thankx for the input guys - with the sr t25 and the bigger fuel injectors - do you need the crower cam or is the stock one able to handle the rise in hp? i should mention that the 3k includes getting a rebuild kit as well - any suggestions on which kits to buy?

Almost any cam can take a significant rise in power. They are not under much pressure even with more hp since they just open and close the valves. Your bottom end is where you need to worry about a signifant rise in power. The weakest link on ka's are the pistons. They can still take 250-300whp depending on how good your tune is but anything beyond that and your pushing your luck. The rods are good for around 375-400whp. The stock ka rods are pretty beefy.

The most important thing on your ka-t is your engine tune. Countless guys on the ka-t forums have broken their piston ringlands from crappy engine management.

thats good to know - would you use CP pistons or some other name brand - or should i just replace them with some stock oem ones?

KA rods are forged from the factory so they will take a beating.

The jgs kit fits perfectly they fucked up when making my downpipe tho. I had to heat it up and bend it so it wont hit the trans. Just get ARP headstuds and cosmetic head gasket. There is a guy onthere pushin 528hp stock internals and valve train. And for cams, just go get another exhaust cam from a junker 240 and use it a an intake cam it will give you more lift. Not bad for a couple bucks.
