Ok guys, I guess I'm back ont he project. Just ordered my clutch and flywheel. they should be on the way Monday. THANKS JOE!
Going to be cutting the Shifter Hole bigger for the new tranny, and possibly pressure washing the car. My buddy AJ's going to help me swap the MKii tails, but keep the MK1 centerpiece. I love having fabricator friends biggrin.gif
I may keep the engine out until I have enough for a rebuild. I don't wanna drive it the way it is. I was told it burns and leaks oil. So, I want to buy new seals, and piston rings. I wish I knew somebody who powder coated...then I'd get the valve cover done lol.

Anyways, I'm happy to be back on the road of progress.

Sounds good... hey do you have other threads on this? If you PM me links to all of them, I can combine them into a Garage section thread and give it a good title. You should really be updating progress and pics and whatnot on a single build thread like the rest of us do.

BTW, put in a short-throw shifter BEFORE you install the trans. It'll be a LOT easier.

Hella flush and all associates should be gunned down for brainwashing people into thinking a 225 and lots of camber is proper wheel fitment. THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.

no, do NOT install shifter before trans goes in, it is a bitch, and tends to fuck up the tunnel, or the bushing at the end of the shifter. the clip-over type short throws go on easy regardless.

What arro meant was to put on the shifters PLATE before dropping it in, so all it is is sliding the shifter in and putting in the 4 hex screws that hold it in.

Yes.

Not the arm part. I don't think that would clear the tunnel... ??

I just got my short shifter in the mail today, and I didn't see hex screws in the kit, but maybe some have them, or maybe mine does, too... didn't even open the bag yet.

The one I have used the Stock plate, but I had to take out the plate to put in bushings for the new shifter. and there is a machined groove on the outside of the little cylinder that the shift slides into. I have two little Half moon lock collars that go into that. and the bolts go through the top plate.

picture of the same I've got.

And that's inside of a B&M plate. I didn't like how notchy the B&M felt.

This one shows it better

I put a cheap-o 30 dollar OBX short-throw in my 86 N/A Z31. Not the best quality, but god-damn did it make a difference.

LOL! ok guys. I'll see about getting a short shifter tongue.gif
don't need one right away.
I might keep the engine out for a while. It leaks and burns oil apparently.
So I should buy new piston rings and seals.
