I know this isn't my S12 with the problem but I'm having a little problem getting 240 smogged.
Last year I had my 1992 240sx's Motor swapped (KA24DE) with just an ordinary KA24DE. I had someone put it in for me and now the check engine light comes on. I brought it to get it smogged and the shop says that it won't pass smog if the light is on.

What my question is... is, what should I look for which is causing the light to go on? The car runs perfectly fine except for the tension for the timing chain... it's a bit loose. Could it be wiring? Just need a little help just to get this car back on the streets.

If the problem isn't solved by this weekend... the motor comes out... selling the S13 Shell and the motors going to the S12. tongue.gif

Thank You.

I've heard of people just pulling the bulb out to pass smog...

lol, I was thinking of doing that but it's an Exhaust problem.
I get the Trouble Code: 35... which is Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor. (EGR perhaps?)

But damn... The car runs so smooth. Damn gases.

Check your EGR Valve, my friend had the same problem when he bought his S13

take all the egr crap off and make a block off plate, then remove the bulb and have it tested.

It'd fail in california because without the EGR stuff it won't pass visual inspection excl.gif
