Ok i buddy of mine told me that after I do the KA24DE swap that my gauge will only work if I have a S14 gauge cluster due to the S14 ecu... Is that true??? If so is there any way to Walter rig it? Lol thanks.

the only thing that the ecu controls is the tach signal. i dont think it would work on a s14 ecu, just like it doesnt work on the s13 ecu. just get an aftermarket tach.

there is a way to convert the rpm signal by the use of diodes. search around, and you should it. as far as the speedo goes, youre going to need to pull the sensor off your s12 tranny and use it on the s13-s14 tranny, since the s12 uses a cable type speedo. everything else on the cluster should be semi self explanatory

Re tacho wiring, the sr or ca18det ECU won't run the s12 tacho. Only way its been done for an s12, (the people i know that have done it anyway), is to run 4 diodes, (worth 5 or 10 cents each from an electronics store) off the 4 wires that go from the ignitor to the coil packs, join them together and then run a wire from this to the tacho (guage), signal in wire. Diodes only send power in one direction, so current doesn't flow backwards and stuff up your ignitor etc.
But you must be careful and wire them facing the correct way. Here's a how to from someone whose done it successfully:

".....well used 4x IN4004 diodes connected to the coil side of the ignitor, about 3 inches from the plug is easy enough, then just joined the 4 diodes together on the tacho side and joined that wire straight to the tacho, the stripe on the diodes is towards the tacho (not sure if that is anode or cathode), and there you go....."

ill look at my dist and see what wires to tap into, still not quite sure which ones they are

ive come to the conclusion that the KA doesn't have those same individual outputs as the SR, but i might be able to amplify the signal

Well heres what happened soo far. My friend sold his S14 for $4000 and bought a 92 S13 Fastback w/the DE. I was kinda mad cuz that he canceled his order for the sr for s14. Idk if he will swap out his new car. I hope so... Otherwise I'll have to buy one myself lol. Anyways thankx for all the info guys.
