Hey Guys, I'm looking at swapping the MKII tranny I have for the KA24DE tranny. The car already has a running KA24DE in it. I was wondering if the KA24DE tranny will bolt right up to the CA tranny's tranny mounts.

pretty much what I'm asking is, can I use the tranny mount thats on the car now? will the bolt holes line up, or do I need something else? (I already know I need half the 240 drive shaft.)

The car is an 87 btw.

well from what i've been led to beleave, the ka transmision can work all together by it self, it won't bolt right up to the ca trans mount the trans crossmember needs to be modified, i'm not sure exactly how. the shifter hole will need to be cut back futher and the center consol will no longer fit 'factory'. useing the front of the 240 driveshaft is also said to work, but i've also seen complaints of spliting it in this way and useing diffrent halfs can cause a nasty vibration. diffrent methods have been done and wrote up about around here

Its the same trans ("C" trans) so this swap would be pointless. But...

Your car is MK2 so the trans will mount to the crossmember. The floor will need to be modified to accomodate the further back placement of the shifter.

This thread is for putting a ca18det trans into a MK1. The trans is the same but you will have a much easier time since your car is MK2.

There are links to other threads on the topic within that thread.

Again I'd like to state that this swap is pointless unless your current C trans is crapping out and you dont want to hunt down a S12 C trans.

Good luck!
