ok, i dont think that MK1 guys should have to search through all the MK2 threads to find info on how to wire up the KA24de to a MK1. its been done...share your info!
TalkingGoats
Mk1 and Mk2 wiring should be close enough it doesnt matter. Colors are different. Its easy enough to figure it out using a manual.

-Power the fuel pump
-Power the ECU

Engine runs

-Splice in the wire for the tach

Now its drivable.

Whats needed for the speedo?

Get s13 fsm, get s12 gsm, find corresponding wires, turn car on, drive wink.gif

Holy shit according to that thread Ka bellhousing will bolt up to all CA transmissions.

The car that was swapped was an 84 which is B tranny right?

My life just got easier.

Swapping bell housings isn't the easiest thing to do lol, but sure
TalkingGoats
Its not easy, but I wouldn't need to have a drive shaft made.

im trying to figure out if the mk1 turbo and 20e front driveshafts are the same. if they are you dont need a custom d.s. made. you would use the whole s13 tranny, get a front half to the s13 d.s. and the s12 rear part and bada bing. thats assuming the r180 rear d.s. is the same.
for the wiring id wire up the engine seperate from the s12's wiring harness. that way you can delete alot of original s12 wiring for the cleaner look. get a s13+s12 fsm it helps alot.

I have solid rear Its H190 rear end. I have to go custom sad.gif

Unless they mount the same, with the same bolt pattern.

I hated it at first. Then I realized I have the lightest model of S12, and I also don't have to worry about demon camber.

I didnt really feel like going into too much reading^^^^ about what had been said about the bellhousing swap lol.. But I had the SR bellhousing on the S12 transmission. Driveshaft aligned correctly, the shifter also. I have a solid axle car... But I had an MKII 71C in my car...

But the person I got the idea from was using/had used the B tranny... smile.gif

any wiring info on the SOHC KA?
Altyman
I'd be working on mine if there wasn't 435cm of snow over my car... well, around it. I'll be able to help when it all melts down.

i got my KA24E engine, harness and ECU for FREE today...looking at the wiring it looks simple, maybe 7-10 wires to splice in....

450hp KA-T here i come!..

Knee deep in wiring diagrams and pics, lol I lost the car i was doing this on (owner sold it and moved) but I have enough left that I can figure it out. Hopefully some good stuff by next weekend, as I'll be off work finally.

The MK1 and MK2 harnesses are quite different. There are also differences between the CA20 cars and CA18 cars, as equipped from factory. The first thread will deal with the CA20 base, a second thread later will deal with the CA18 as a base. Lots o pics to come.
