I got the pin outs and yada yada yada.. I just need to be finished wiring in 2 weeks.

Questions.

IPB Image
Is this the harness under the MAF that everyone splices into?

IPB Image
Is this were the wires (KA Harness) that you splice into the S12 harness?

IPB Image
Where do I connect these vacuum hoses?

If anyone helps me out, I'll hook you up on CA or KA parts that I got! If my SE Mudflaps don't sell, I'd be willing to give them up for CHEAP to whoever helps me out!
Philipn126
Yes, the first pic is the infamous gray plug under the MAF. That vacuum line is for the brake booster. It runs behind the engine to a pcv valve looking thing just under the 4th intake runner.

Alright!

The second pic, it is on almost the end of the KA harness, are those the wires I need to cut and connect to the connector under the MAF?

The previous owner left the stock CA upper harness in, so I'm going to remove that on monday and route the KA wiring through the correct location. He said it wasn't long enough and went through a hole by the glovebox.. Did you use the stock wiring location for your KA Swap?
Philipn126
Yea, that gray plug on the KA harness splices into the gray plug under the MAF. IICR, both plugs were female so they would not plug together. Just run jumper wires from the ka gray plug to the corresponding wires on the s12 gray plug. I have some pics on this site somewhere from when I wired mine up. I will look.

Also, it would probably be easier to put the KA ecu in the same spot as the stock s12 one. (drivers side kick panel) and run the harness up and behind the drivers side fender just like the stock harness. I have seen it done different ways, but when it comes time to wire, it will be easier to do it that way.

I relocated my battery to the drivers side so I could run a true CAI.

Cool, thanks man!

Do you have any pics of the other connectors (plugs under the dash)

Need any KA/CA Parts?
Philipn126
I will try to snap a pic of the under dash pics later.

Shoot me a pm with your parts inventory.

Alright,

I have too many parts to list off!
Tommorow I will be at the car and parts so I'll snap pics and write everything down..

If you need any other help, I can help you out over the phone, i know the wires now by heart practically, and have all the diagrams with me on the road. And I have a few hours of nothing to do tomorrow, on the road.

Staying in downtown San Francisco at Henry's college dorm!

**Not to thread Jack, but when did you get a KA? biggrin.gif**

Didn't you hear? Everyone has one now tongue.gif

Not that I can blame them.

Here are the plugs. Two white and one black. They are under the dash right behind where the clutch master cylinder rod connects to the clutch pedal.

Man, this info is great!

I'll send you a list of everything tommorow..

Too bad you're far away from me, cause I might be replacing the seats in that car and they are mint..

I gotta get a Decal made that says "Wiring thanks to Philipn126 on Club-S12"

I need a pic of the other 2 KA Connectors that I splice into those and I'm ready for wiring..

I think this thread deserves a sticky once everything is done because I've never seen KA Threads with pics of the connectors.
Philipn126
Are you talking about where the KA and CA harnesses wire together in the engine bay? You can kinda see it in the first two pics that I posted. The KA harness was painted blue by some drifter ricer dude I bought it from.

My seats are mint too. They have had covers on them forever.
ryan206
The gray one meantioned in the pic I guess is the AFM style one>?

it also mentions a brown plug and whiteplug

do you need a Cold Air Intake?
Philipn126
Yea, the gray plug under the stock MAF is the connection point.

The brown plug is the little guy on the KA harness right next to the giant plug that goes into the ECU.

You don't need a CAI. It was just something that I did.

Lol, no.. I have a Cold Air Intake that came with my S12 and I don't really need it.. I might be trading it to J-Man for some of his S13 parts so I dunno..
Philipn126
Wired up yet?
ryan206

Wired up yet?

Not yet, I went there today to wire it up, but it turns out they had to do some stupid test and I didn't bring any tools..

But I did go over the under MAF Wiring..

Where it says Primary Coil Blue or Bluew/white strip, I have both blue and blue/w

I found all the under dash plugs..

Here is what is left to do

Wire up KA
Hook up Heater Hose
Hook up Brake Booster
Fill transmission with fluid
Fill Motor with fluid
Hook up gas lines..

Lucky for me, J-Man has both an MK2 S12 and a S13 so I'm going to his house later to see where the brake booster, heater Hose and gas lines hook up to so tommorow I can get the bitch wired and *almost* ready..

I'm having a bad time finding GL-4 Transmission Fluid, every place carries GL-5. I called Nissan up today, and for 3 qts of 80w-90 GL4 Fluid is $30 and I'm broke right now..
Philipn126
GL5 works fine. I've ran it in mine ever since I bought it in 2001.

In the transmission?

I have Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w-90 Gear Oil GL-5 and was told on other parts of this forum and a quick google search showed GL-5 Will eat up Sycros..

I might just do so I can drive the bitch home, then drain it and wait till I get more money to buy some GL-4

Also, the wiring harness looks like its a bit too short to go through the driver's side fender (where stock wiring is..)
Philipn126
EH? Not sure 'bout the trans fluid, but I know for sure that the harness will go that route. Mine is that way.
ryan206
Update!

I haven't been able to go due to the past couple days been hectic for me.. Tommorow, I am going to wire it up..

I need to buy:

Coolant
Oil
Oil Filter
Transmission Fluid (I found an autoparts store that stocks GL-4, so I'm going to pick that up..)

I was told by a bunch of S13 guys and the FSM to run GL-4, so that's what I'm going to do.. $$ is low right now, so I dunno when I can buy everything.

My main thing with wiring is

Where it says Primary Coil Blue or Bluew/white strip, I have both blue and blue/w

Luckly, J-Man lives up the street from me and has an S13 that i can take a look at to see what goes where, but I couldn't see where the heater hoses connected to. Anyone know where on a KA?

How does the stock CA Harness come out? I'm assuming I have to take the fender off and start pulling smile.gif

Thanks for the help!

Ok guys, this is how I wired up my frankenstein S13 (1991-1994) KA24DE in my MKII CA20E'd S12.

Stock CA20E lower harness can be used on the KA for the starter and alty.
Inside the car under the dash (close to where the ecu is mounted)
.................................S12........................................KA

Start Signal:.....black w/ yellow stripe...........................orange
................small white plug under dash...............................

Fuel Pump Relay: yellow w/ red srtipe.......................black w. pink stripe
...............larger white plug under dash...............................

Water Temp (for gauge): purple w/ white stripe..............blue w/ black stripe
................small black plug under dash....................................

Trans Neutral Switch: yellow w/ red stripe...................green w/ orange stripe
...............larger white plug under dash........................................

I was going over the wiring again, and for some reason, the fuel pump relay and the Trans Neutral switch are same wire on the S12? WTF?

Yet the other pic with KA wiring says
IPB Image
The trans neutral is green/orange on the S12 and its the same on the S13..

Any clarification would be great.. I'm confused as fuck..
Philipn126
I think I'm the one who wrote this. This is how I wired up my '87.
