he JUST got back into town a bit ago, call him now...i think he's down the street from the house
do a compression test man and remove the timing belt and check the timing marks. i think the belt is on there wrong. i went thru a series of shitty motor swaps in that car, it was nuts! long story...ugh. lol
I think I should check the belt first, if it is off, I probably won't have much compression. Would like to know If I have fuel though. Need to check the filter and see if I got any fuel there and also see if it kicks over when I put some fuel in the intake (No, I haven't done that yet).
I still have to call your dad, I left a message Monday morning but haven't heard anything. Will try again today and see if I can catch him.
I have had some ideas for the car, but right now my pocket book is in the "yah, Right" mode right now. I will be contacting Kragen on Thursday morning to find out about the status of the background check and drug test. I am hoping that I can start on Thursday and put in some hours. Anything right now would help.
Things to be done:
1. Titled and registured of course
2. Get new battery
3. Get a Boost gauge and manual boost controller (Well, at least the boost gauge)
4. Diagnose and repair to get running
Things I would like to do:
Rebuild motor or replace with DET-- This will come down to availeble funds and downtime, I want to get this on the road ASAP, so a DET swap probably will not happen, at least no time soon. The ET is capable of making my power goals so the DET would be more a luxary. I was thinking of just a standard rebuild as long as I don't have to bore it out. Have the head taken up and rebuilt with a good 3 angle valve job. Would like to get my hands on a Nismo cam during the build. Summit sells ARP head bolts which I would like to use as well as aquiring a cosmetic metal head gasket. That would covor the top half, as for the bottom end, would like to at least get the crank resurfaced and the rods shot peenned and reassembeled with some good quality bearings. I have seen the det girdle has been used on these blocks, not sure if I would need it, but would be nice to have. Since I would like to use ARP bolts on the bootm end to, I will need to get the block aligned honed. Is there an ARP set available, does anybody know? Will have to look into that when I start gathering parts. I haven't seen the bottom end on these motors, is there a windage tray? If not, I would need to find (or make) one to keep the oil sloshing down from the crank. Hi volumn oil pump would also be something I would like to get.
With the motor done, would like to upgrade the turbo. Was at least wanting to get a t25g from an SR, heard those are good turbo's for this size motor and are cable of making the power that i'm shooting for. This car is going to be a daily driver, so I don't need 300 or 400 hp, I'm looking to get around 200 which I have seen these motors hitting. Would like gt2860r though, but might be pushing it a bit.
Need a BOV, intercooler and plumbing, Safc controler to tune, and everyhing else mentioned above.
I was thinking also that for ignition, I would like to get an MSD box with the boost retard function and 2 blaster coils. Would need to find out if the 6al box can run 2 coils or if I have to split the cables to the coils to run both. Might be cheaper to get the 6 box the has the builtin boost control instead of getting the 6al box and the seperate boost retard box.
As for car color if I repaint, was thinking of a dark purble with the trim and scoope painted black. Tint of the windows would also be on the list. As for wheels, was thinking of something like this:

For cooling, I may just stay with the stock radiator, get it rotted out and checked and then run an electric fan setup. Most likely the fans will probably be of the wrecking yard verity, had some good luck with Maxima fans on my SE. I think I will do the sensor/relay setup a little different though, more like Keiths setup instead of the probe through the rad approach (though I might end up doing that again, it worked).
