So I've been a member for a few months now and have been trying to do my homework without asking a bunch of stupid questions. Now it's time to start.
I've got a 1985 s12 with a ca20e, and have recently aqcuired a 93 s13 that has been totaled. What I'd like to know, is what all should I keep from this donor (other than the obvious motor, tranny, engine harness, ecu) Donor car runs fine and has been t-boned.
It would be great if someone who has done this before could make a simple list. (if there is one and I just haven't found it, bear with me please)

-All the drivetrain
-Front suspension (knuckles, LCA, bearings, brakes)
-Rear subframe (if you ever felt the need to do an S13 swap in the rear)
-Steering wheel (will fit)
-Seats
-Radiator
Some have retrofitted the S13 dash into the S12, but it would be a tough fit.
Have fun.

It's equipped with the super hicas steering so I probably won't be using the rear end...any body here want to give it a shot? Super hicas s12?

yeah rear end is useless, but still grab all the drivetrain for sure, axles and everything. maybe you could sell the super hicas crap to some local kid?

Yeah, I've already got that stuff all printed out and close at hand. Also have asparagus' write up in my favorites for inspiration.

you can sell the steering rack.
hicas cars have a quicker ratio rack, people like to swap them into non hicas cars for drifting and such.

If the rack will mate up to my s12 I'll use it. I was thinking about doing the spindle arm mod that was mentioned in the handling tech section a while ago to shorten the arm the tie rod attaches to. Maybe I'll just use the rack instead. (anybody ever tried that mod and succeeded and/or failed?) [wrong section to bring this up I know, sorry]

I doubt it will. Nobody has tried, but if you can custom fab shit, maybe you can *make* it work.... but the electronics...? I think that is very dependent on the chassis harness. In which case it would be *next to* impossible.

oh, well, the hicas too, he just wants to use the front rack.
its the same as a conventional s13 rack, its just a quicker ratio, direct swap on a non hicas s13.
the p/s pump and all that shit is different though, and requires some wiring if you want to swap it.

Not to toot my own horn, but as a machinist that can program and operate anything from 4th axis horizontals to edm and waterjet, there's not much I can't make if given enough time and ambition...I don't think the spindles should be that tough.
