Hey does anyone know the exact normal operating temperature ,in F. ar C. but please specify, of a KA24E. I'm trying to wire up my E fans to a thermo switch because my led switches keep burning up so i'm gonna put the fans on their own circuit. Thanx I'd really appreciate any feedback at all.

Standard running temp of most gas engines is 180-190, even though it would seem logical to have the fans come on at 195 or even 200, I've found that if you use a 185 on and 180 off switch it works the best.

And don't use a switch directly on the fan, use a relay. Switches on a high current drawing device is a no-no. wink.gif

The KA's tend to run hotter, there should be factory service manuals (FSM's) for the S13 spread around on the net, I would go by whatever that says.

If you pick a thermostatic control for your electric fan thats too cool, the fan will run all the time when the car is at operating temperature. IE if the thermostat in the motor regulates it at 190 or 195, and your e-fan is set up to come on at 185, then the fan will run all the time when the motor is at regular operating temp, which is kind of a quick way to kill the fan and alternator.

I'm thinking about a fan with a built in relay for ease of wiring, but are their any cars that use a thermo switch that engage at the proper temp i'm thinkin an altima since i already have thos dual fans and an external relay but the wiring looked like ass and i kept burnin out manual switches. Also there's a rando thermo switch on the bottom radiator hose that i'm told controls the A/C condensor fan. It doesn't effect engine operation at all i checked. I just don't know what temp. it engages at.

Depends on where the switch is located as well, if it's in the upper rad hose, it'll read lower temps than where the temp sender is (ie. before the thermostat).

its in the lower radiator hose i just need to know the temp it engages at since its for the A/C condensor i think it engaes higher than norwmal operating temp and i don't want to test that hypothesis.

Lower hose will read even lower, since it's after the rad has done it's job.

The AC fan kicks in at around 200 deg C

damn thats way to hot. I found the switch I need its also adjustable, but it uses a Radiator probe type temp sensor I know my thermostat opens at 170 so if i set the temp on the switch to 170-175 I should be good since the the radiator is cooler than the thermostat what do you think? any advise?

It'll work, just keep an eye on your temp gauge. A switch that sits in the coolant would be a better choice, but a probe type will work in a pinch.
