Okay, So I bought a KA24E right?

orignally it had a blown headgasket and sat for a month, by now i expect water to have been in the oil right? WRONG! when we pulled the engine we forgot to drain the oil which was a big PLUS for me so i can finally see how it was like.

the oil filter was littered with water when i pulled it and held it upside down. however when i went to go pullout the dipstick the oil is not contaminated. It looks like just used oil, no sign of contamination at all. So what i wanna ask is it possible that instead of water pouring into the crack case oil filled the water passages?

i just don't know what to think of this sad.gif

I'm like "there should be water in the oil but there isn't..... hmmmm"

any ideas anyone?

take off the valve cover and look down at the timing chain. try to see if the guides are broken or not. its possible that water could be coming through a hole in the timing cover from a loose timing chain. its pretty regular for these motors if not taken care of.

its a shit load easier to do the timing set while its out of the car...

also, headgasket is not hard at all to do on these motors...

get her nice prepared and cleaned up before you drop it in! take your time you wont regret it. oh and definatly take all of the emmissions bullshit off like the EGR and what not... take out the intake butterflies... its a lot easier to do before u drop it in

goodluck!

if its been sitting for a long time the water could have settled to the bottom of the pan, below the reach of the dipstick.

and blown headgaskets do not always equal water in the oil
