well i have alot of problems like the MKI S12's do.

from what i see if i cut my shifter hole for the shifter, my shifter will hit my Ebrake.

From what i searched you could use a CA bellhousing on the KA tranny and It'll bring it back to stock location? if thats true can't i just take and use a CA tranny from a 18DET?

another question is incase i can't get my hands on a CA tranny/bellhousing. what about the SR20 tranny? are they longer or shorter? does it have the same bolt patterns as the KA tranny? or is it the same thing?

EDIT: oh >.< i put it in the wrong section fail/

For what engine?

All S13/S14 transmissions are longer than the S12's, it's not the bell that's different, it's the rear extension housing.

If you're putting in a CA, why not just get a junkyard CA S12 trans? It'll bolt to ANY CA engine.

For a KA, SR, or any other engine besides the CA, you'll have to swap the bell, if you want to use the stock S12 trans. Otherwise you have to cut the shifter hole back.

It will not. I have proof:

With the ebrake down, it rests right at the base of the rubber boot, but not on it. Works fine.

Then you didn't read close enough. All bellhousings are the same depth, it's the *transmission* that is longer. Anyways, you can't use a CA bellhousing on a KA engine. If you could, then it would have been the same and you wouldn't even have needed to change the trans. Bellhousings are specific to the engine they go on. They have specific bolt patterns to mount to the engine block.

As far as the tranny goes, ignoring the bellhousing for a moment, the CA18DET and KA24 trans are essentially the same. Both are longer than an S12 trans.

I lined out the items that are pointless now that I corrected you before about bellhousings being different from engine to engine. An S13 trans is an S13 trans, be it attached to a KA bellhousing, a CA18DET bellhousing, or an SR20DET bellhousing. All the same length. I thikn even the S14 is the same trans, too.

I'll move it.
