im thinking it would be nice to put a ken bell on an s12 ka( e or de) but i dont even know where to begin to see if this is possible.

do you think it would be like on the xterra were you would just have to do the adapter plate and pulley's??

any info or thoughts to get this started would be great.

foe the low effeciencies and cost of a sc ud be better off in all the ways doing a turbo setup... being that u can buy all the turbo stuff youd need and sc is all custom

Agreed. Although instant boost would be sweet I love turbo boost! thumbsup2.gif

size the turbo correctly and you'll plenty of instant boost

I don't agree with Bart, I think a supercharged KA24DE with the setup on Julie's link would be nice... reliable and consistent, and relatively maintenance free, other than inspecting the belt. Sure, it's not nearly as tunable as a turbo setup, but for those of us who don't want a screaming high horsepower engine, this would be perfect. Only a T2 will spool similar to the response of this (sorry, even a 16G has *some* lag, albeit nothing compared to other larger turbos), but this is zero delay. Instant.

If you're looking to grab 250-275hp, this would be perfect.

ive read that one that julie posted. So the instalation would be the same for the Ken Bells that the mustangs and basically muscle cars use??

they have a higher output than the xterra stock chargers so i bet im looking at full internals and fuel management. i want to do this on the ka24e. I know its not the prime choice simply for lack of aftermarket or in that its hard to find the aftermarket for it anymore. i still have my kade block so its still an option though, we'll see.

yeah the turbo has been proven again and again. As its said i like the idea of instant boost though. and my goal is 300-400 hp. also im thinking about doing the bellhousing swap again for the joy of a six speed from the Sr. ive been looking on ka-t.org but the supercharger section is still kinda young.

so i assume that the buildup of the block to handle this would be the same as for a turbo: pistons ,rods ,cams ,bore, injectors yada yada?

Agreed once again! lol.gif I don't know how many people are familiar with Full-Race twin scroll setups, but my friend has their stuff on his SR powered S14 and its sweet. He has a GT3076R I believe and with the twin scroll he can hit full boost way fast and hold his power.

im tunnel vision so ima stick with a supercharger. i understand the benefit of a turbo...but I..ME...want supercharged.
Julie
supercharger whine is more fun anyway biggrin.gif

My friend used to have a VW corrado with some crazy supercharger on it that sounded like an old fashion fire truck. I don't remember what kind but it was definitely not the stock one.
Julie
there used to be a blown corrado in my town that sounded like a formula one car when he got on the gas. was yellow with a black hood, that i dubbed "The Bumblebee"
bartc_j
well either way you go ur boosted which is better then na

Yeah my friends car was for sure a unique sound. Plus the corrado has some funny old technology such as the wing that moves up into the clean air at a certain speed, which is sweet cause he had stock suspension so you could feel the back chocks compress some so apparently it was doing its job. Sorry for sidetracking.

The SR six speed you're talking of is weak sauce, FYI. Not something suited for high horsepower applications.

yes, in terms of the strength of the internals, forced induction is forced induction.

The same would go for the fuel system and subsequent tuning.

That's a lyscholm supercharger, I've had the pleasure of seeing/hearing them on a couple different VW Corrados.

Single scroll system with an interlocking scroll-shaft, which is why unlike a roots-type, it whines:

Mine is also that same yellow. What you're describing is the stock supercharger on the first couple of years of that car (badged as "Corrado G60"). The "G" is for the type of supercharger -- a G-lader. A G-lader is a bizzare blower that uses an 8-point rotor inside; similarly to a rotary engine, it sounds like a UFO is flying down the street. Pretty neat stuff.

G-lader:

As you can see, like a rotary engine it has an eccentric shaft in the middle.

Don't ask me to explain it beyond that, the geometry of that thing's insides are beyond me (German, go figure).
SprockCapn
Yeah good call on the Lyscholm. I don't know why I couldn't think of that. At least someone knows what I'm talkin about since its a pretty unique sound! smile.gif
