i went to the local yard to find one from a 300zx (z31) as recomended on here, but no luck, and the friggin things are like 200 dollars new. any alternatives??

Just use the stock 200sx one. Then you get to keep your stock dash.
And it removes the speed limiter on the ecu

look on the FSM for a VSS wire and cut it, you won't have speed limiter problems anymore. alot of Z31 turbo owners do it if they wanna go over 120mph

yeah from what i keep reading the kae tops out at 118 with the limiter, that was to be my next question. so the stock sensor will work then? cool. thats one step closer to finished.

go on a S13 forum and ask about removing the speed limiter. i know for the Z31 turbo's it's called "THE PURPLE WIRE" and you cut it and you can go over 125mph with out the ECU cutting fuel to the engine (BAD VERY VERY VERY BAD! i heard you can crash because of that)

i thought if you use a s12 speed sensor (from a 5 spd) thats cable drawn the spedo would still work

you just remove the whole s13 speed sensor altogether

dont you NEED the speedometer to work for inspection and all that jazz
