thanks guys.
been searching lots. seems the KA won't be hard at all to put into my car. smile.gif
You guys are all VERY helpful, and very positive.
Arro's thread is amazing, and has taught me many things. except,...if the ECU and Wiring harness are from an Automatic 240SX,...and I still use them?
unfortunately, all the shit is from an auto. ...
if I wanted, could I use the Brake master cylinder, and brake booster from a 240SX?
mine are toast. gone to shit, sitting 2 years.

Arro,
cutting up that trans mount looked a little tricky,..just grind down like 3mm from each side?, or more?
I'm going 5- speed transmission hunting tuesday, I heard of a place near by that deals with imports only. headbang.gif
nismologist
if you stumble across an se with a 5 spd in the yards,it would be a bolt on affair.mine swapped bolt in when i went with a ka trans.

hey what about my thread!!!

it gets good around page 18

you can copy my ghetto ass shit that works! and makes it through drift events

haha I hope you'll be fine. one of these days man...one of these days, ..that green plastic or whatever it is, is going to crack apart lol.
David B

looking real nice man. I love the color of the valve cover smile.gif

I had the B Tranny, so my Speedo sensor will swap right over.
only the C trans needed to swap sensors if I remember correctly.
David B
i had a b trans too

LOL I love the Pop bottle overflow HAHAHAH
looks great!
well, at least I know I'll never have trouble finding parts for the KA, no matter what it is, ... speedo sensor, CO2 sensor, engine mounts, doesn't matter. SOO common!
I can't wait to find a tranny, and mount the old beast in my 200SX.
turns out, I'm not going to bother putting in new piston rings, or seals, I'm just going to dumps some "engine restore" into my oil, and drive it till it blows, then get it rebuilt. ...OR< by the time that happens, I'll have enough for an SR20. hahahah!
David B
depends on how much your ka is worth to you, i got mine for 40 bucks

i did replace the rear main seal, oil pan gasket, oil pump gasket, and changed a newish alt. and some small things. but that was all

i was auto, so i got a t/o/b and a manual pilot bearing

if you have acces to a slide ahmmer and a welder it will make your life easier to get the auto bearing out.

ure going to have to remove the oil pan, to remove the t/q converter, so id buy a gasket now.

other then my pan gasket, i orderd all my stuff oem from nissan. cause if im going to replace something i might as well get quality

very very true. I might as well buy the gaskets.
I don't know much about transmissions, and didn't know I'd have to take the oil pan off anyways. I will get my fabricator/mechanic buddy to do that stuff for me.
David B
its very easy, u just flip the engine (25 dollar engine stand harbour frieght)

then undo the pan bolts, pry pan off,

the rotate the tq converter and take the bolts off,

scrape old gasket off, place new one, and bolt down and continue, takes like 25 min

^ What he said ^

Another thing to note, even the C trans doesn't need any sensor swap. the factory s12 speedo gear will work in all three trans. they're the same gear. So you'll never have to worry about that.

Another thing to note. I was in your position about a month ago. scrambling to make every little thing line up perfectly. and After i was done, I got very pissed off at how simple it actually was. I didn't even feel like I accomplished anything. Sure it's more fun and all. But it is a very very easy swap.

That oil pan gasket is dirt cheap. and your already covered with the other ones you replaced.

If your using an auto 240sx ecu, I would leave the gear selector sensor plugged into it (Wrapped with electrical tape) in neutral. so it starts, and the computer won't know the difference between what it thinks it has, and what it really has. I'm sure there's two wires you could cross, but I don't know them off hand.
Mark04
Yeah. you know,...after reading your threads, and seeing all your pics, and reading ARRO's build, I realized how easy it can be.
this is really my first swap, and I'm learning alot already.
except wiring, and rebuilding engines...I won't ever try that, unless I get taught how.
I want to get into mechanics, but some things shouldn't be fucked with if you aren't experienced.
this swap seems to be the easiest, and best bang for the buck.
Even boosted, I have seen a 240SX with 715HP, running 43psi of boost.
Just shows what a KA CAN do, ...but not necessarily what it WILL do if you don't know what you're doing.
