Well, I'm pulling the KA-DE out of my red notch and it will be put into my white notch..

The transmission in the car is a S12 C Transmission with a KA Bellhousing. I'm assuming that i'm going to have to modify the cross member which is fine.

What do you KA-DE Guys do for heater hoses? I never got a straight answer last thread I made, and I haven't found any info on it. In Washington, its kind of required.

I also need to replace my motor mounts. Can I use Nismo S13 Mounts? What about Trans Mount?

Am I going to need a Charcol Canaster from an S13?

Do I need any pieces from an S13 Lower Harness to complete the swap?

Any suggestions on to what I should change on the motor when its out?

1.) If your two notches are the same year and original engine setup. I don't see why you'd have to change the cross member.

2.) I bought a hose from autozone, don't remember the part number. It had 2 90 degree bends in it, and was the perfect size. Cut it up and used it. Pic below. I put one that lined up on the bottom line, and had to do a good 4 bends to attach the other one to the top. (I'm in Wi, I feel your pain)

3.) Yes, you do need to replace the motor mounts from the stock motor. Nismo S13's will work PERFECT. Trans mount will be the car's orginal, plus the one from the C trans bolted together, depending on your answer from question 1

4.) I didn't use either canister. not needed. But the S12 one will work.

5.) I didn't use any of the S13 lower harness. Just the engine harness.

Things to change. Clutch, Oil pan gasket, exhaust manifold gasket. TRANSMISSION REAR SEAL <- Biggie!

Thanks for the help..

My main notch is an 85 MK1 and the donor car is a 87 MK2, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to mod the cross member

So Nismo Motor Mounts for an S13 work for a KA in an S12? Awesome..

The car has a brand new Nissan Clutch and seals in the transmission were replaced. I'll do the oil pan and exhaust manifold.

If you could give me the part # for the hose, that'd be awesome

It was a generic hose that's in stock in all of the stores. Something like 11247 or something. Any of the counter guys will be able to help you.

I'm still unsure about the tranny mount modding. Somebody with a MK II speak up here.

Doesn't matter if the tranny seals were replaced. Every time you pull that driveshaft out it's worth it to replace. it's 12 dollars if that.

Yeah the s13 Nismo motor mounts should fit. And yeah oil pan gasket is good to change if the motor is already out since it is so easy to get to. Exhaust manifold gasket would be good to change as well but not as crucial as the oil pan obviously.

if the engines going into a mk2 it shouldnt need trans mount modding. only the mk1's need the mount to be modded. its not that bad neither. if you have a file or grinder your set. theres pics all over this site of mount mods.

maybe i missed something in my reading, but if you have the ca tranny and ka bellhousing you shouldnt have to modify anything?? or are the tranny mounts different from the mk1 t mk2

If its good to replace the rear seal everytime the driveshaft is removed, I'll replace it. Oil Pan gasket as well, since that will be a PITA once its in the car. The cars going to be daily driven to college (main reason why I chose KA over CA18DET is the tons of parts here)

The transmission is from a MK2 S12, it has a KA24DE Bellhousing on it. Everything is going to be installed in a MK1. I posted a thread a while ago, and many people say that the mounting is different on MK2s.

Hey redneck, I'm going to be swapping in like a month, wanna lend a hand? J-Man is gonna help.. Pizza and Beer will be involved

thats what i missed then. i have no experience with an mk2.

the mounting point is different on a mk2. when you use a hybrid trans your mount on the trans stays the same distance from the engine to lets say a ka with s13 full trans. from the block to the actaul mount bolting onto the trans is always the same distance. the difference in transmissions, reason why we swap bellhousings, is cause the tailend case of the trannys are different lenghts. on the driveshaft side from the mount the 240sx trans is lobger than the s12 trans.

so in other words what im trying to say is.......
if i had a mk2 going ka.....
i could swap bellhousings or run a full s13 trans and either way use my oem mount the same for both trans, no modding.

however, going into a mk1 the trans mount sits to far up, with the hybrid or full s13 trans the mount will sit in the same spot. either way into a mk1 the mount needs to be modded.
