By the looks of things, Looks like the whole motor has to come out just to change that 4 dollar pilot bushing.....

Unless anyone has done it, and has had any other ideas.

What's everyone's 2 cents?

na ive done clutches on both my ca's and changed the pilot bushing in my driveway without pullin the motor. ka isnt any different.

just pull the trans .(8 bellhousing bolts,2 starter bolts, pull the shifter out, disconnect slaveline/cylinder,front half of the drive shaft, then pull it out of the way.)

once the trans is out, pull the clutch, get your handy dandy pilot bushing removal tool(slide hammer etc) and pull it out!

I've done pilot bushings on CA's without pulling the motor too. the CA isn't all that bad. the job itself is the same, but there is a LOT less room with the KA.

nah. that was simple. getting the GD y-pipe out was retarded as hell. and then yeah, reaching the bellhousing bolts was a bit tricky.

I can't imagine the V6 being easy, but I have literally one inch between the engine and the firewall. I think those top bolts will be impossible unless I lift the motor off of the mounts and go a little forward, then tilt it back...

thats about what i have on my ca18det. the top passenger one i think i just used a regular wrench on it with you wrench aimed down towardsthe slave cylinder.

the driver top one sucks. iirc i snuck a wrench in there and hooked another one on to break it loose.

then from underneath i used a wobbly 14mm, connected to a 6 inch extension, into another universal hooked onto a 3 inch extension. then i closed my eyes and hit it with an impact gun.

yo, pilot bearing removal, is CAKE, no cutting pulling tool needed

stuff grease int he hole, pack it in there good

take a ... 13 mill socket? whatever fits flush, wrap some eltrical tape around the socket, and put in a bolt into the mating side that the socket will go in
hammer the socket with the bolt (bolt/screw keeps grease from going through the socket
and the hydrolics forces the grease to push the bearing out

once the pilot bearing kinda pops out u might have to repack the hole

why new pilot bearing? did u forget to remove the auto one if it was auto?

^Done this many times. works like a charm. Except I don't use a bolt. I use an extension and crack that with the hammer.

It was a 5 speed stock, but my guess is the original owner of the car didn't replace it when he put in the six puck...

It whines/squeals occasionally when shifting, and is especially loud when downshifting (the speed of the input shaft changes, and things go from there), no grinds, and the throwout isn't growling at all. So pilot is the last thing. stupid little 4 dollar part
