Full Version: Bypass Neutral Safety Switch

i need to know what wires are used to bypass the neutral safety switch. i did a auto to 5speed swap in my s13. i used the 5 speed lower harness. pics would help alot. but anything is better than nothing.
brewster240
using a 5spd lower harness in an s13 doesnt jump the neutral safety swithc, you still have to jump it out.

im guessing the same on an s12, it should be on the front passenger side harness connector.

on most nissans it will be 2 heavier gauge wires, one white, one black, and you have to jump them together. you still have to do this, even if you use a 5 spd lower harness.

double check with these guys though as to the exact wires, i havent dont a auto-manual swap on an s12.

never done ti before, but i figure you GROUND the wire behind the clutch pedal
brewster240
nah, you gotta loop out the wires for the park/neutral safety switch that would be coming right out of the auto trans.

you do it up by the rf of the car where the lower harness conects to the chassis harness.

may i ask what a neautral safety switch is? is it where you need the clutch down to start the car?

Unplug it. That's all you need to do

The switch is grounded out when the pedal is up, and is an open circuit when the pedal is pushed down. So, if you have an open circuit (Unplugged), you have a fully functional neutral switch, even if your not in neutral thumbsup2.gif

If that doesn't work. Then your's is different than mine.

Edit: This was an auto trans. gotchya. yeah, you'll need to cross the wires to convince the car that it's in park or neutral all the time. Just providing a 12v signal one of the wires on the shifter selection's harness somewhere.

mine doesnt have a plug at the pedal is

just for future reference,.. the location of the plug to jump the NSS is actually UNDER the fuse block on the passenger side in the engine bay. And if I remember correctly from when I did a 5spd swap on a S13 years ago, the wires were Black w/ brown and Black w/ white.. either way, you can't really miss it
brewster240
for the record, i already stated that multiple times, and said that its not exactly the same on s12.

did you ever figure out what you did? in the fsm it appears that there is a different relay or switch on the auto vs. the manual. im just about to that point in my auto to manual swap, ive looked at it just havent jumpered anything yet...
brewster240
hes working on an s13.

i got confused at first too, and thought this was a thread about an s12, being an s12 site and all.
