so i messed with the idle screw on the ecu. when i turned it down all the way, nothing.
when i turned it up all the way, back to sputtering and trying to idle.
when it tries to idle it starts to and then it dies. it tries to revive itself but no luck.
if i give it gas, like pump the hell out of it, it runns.
im thinking i need a new ecu. but im also wondering about timing, adjusting the idle, and/or messing with the tps.
any ideas??
heres what ive done so far: maf, plugs, wires, distributer, injectors.
i hate being this close and not knowing.

video... take video.. we can diagnose it in like a second if u take video explaining stuff in it too as you try to start it
dont give uop.... my shit didnt idle forever
heres me on the throttler. i had shitty ignition timing and lots of vacuum leaks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ojb5Ow7vLmIdid you hook up the brown wire.... it affects idle..

that screw on the ecu is not the idle screw...........thats for pulling codes and going into the diag. modes. to adjust the idle you need to adjust it at the iacv valve which is on the back of the upper plenum. or right next to the throttle plate if you want to do it like that.

had something weird happen today. after stripping my interior, the car would click like a dead battery, then when i sat in it it would start. i did notice that: i have the tail of the tranny on a jack till i put the tranny mount back and it touches the metal where the hole is for the shifter. when i was starting the car, it sparked for a second(weird.
the black wire on the s13 harness, its by the yellow/red. what is that, i grounded it and it got realy hot and burned through its own sheath?

That's not wierd. Remember me mentioning the engine grounds? What's happening here is the tranny is acting as the engine ground on the body of the vehicle.
You don't have good enough engine grounds. That may be your whole problem bud. Ground the Shit out of that motor.

I really hope you keep a clean garage, one spark to some gas or cleaner and big fireball!... then no s12

haha Have you tried grounding to all the neccessary points? Or just breakdown and buy an eGay ground kit, im sure those cant cost more than $20

im going to go over my grounds again in the morning, i know for shure i have the one by the passenger side by the battery, the one that goes on the firewall, the two that go opposite of the throttle body. i think thats all i got. oh the one over at the plugs by the airbox.

there needs to be a thick ground cable that runs either between the chassis and motor or the battery and motor. you can get universal ones at autoparts stores.

im hearing a low hum(sounds like and rc airplane off in the distance) so i know im getting fuel. just gotta figure out the spark now. i have(over on the s12 body side) the black wire with red dotts grounded, and the black wire grounded. over on the s13 ecu side, i still have a red/black wire with nothig going to it (?). funny thing is, when i didnt have the coil wired up i was getting spark and all.

does the kind of distributer dertermine the order. as in the hitachi or mitsubishi?

the firing order is the same for both.
firing order
front 4 3 fire-
of
engine 2 1 wall

ok so i got that right, i know its not the firing order. what about the rotor and the stem that goes into the engine, since ive replaced the distributer as a whole.
