Full Version: Could Use Some Clarification On Water Temp/oil Pressure Gauges

now that i have the tach and the speedo working i am half way there! I just need to wire up my oil pressure and water temp...man...this thing runs...but its like half done lol. Anyways, I have looked at sterlings write up and searched and i still have a couple of questions.

With the oil pressure gauge...are you guys just hooking up the factory wiring to the kade oil pressure sending unit? Or did you have to put a 20e oil pressure sending unit on it? Do you have to run anything to the ecu? or is it straight shot from the gauge to the pressure sending unit?

Water temp...again are you running anything to the ecu, or just hooking the gauge up to the water temp sensor? Are you using a 20e water temp sensor or a kade?

I know that these might seem like kind of dumb questions...but, i looked and i couldnt really find anything in depth about the water temp and oil pressure....i found info about the tach pretty easily.

Use the S12 factory wiring.
Ca20E Oil pressure sending unit
and KA24DE temp sending unit (it's the same)

For the oil pressure one, nothing is needed to do, just plug it in to the 20es sending unit biggrin.gif easy!

Blue/black wire from the connector below (next to ecu) to the purple/white wire up by the factory air box. OR, If you'd like, Right to your dash inside the car. good to go

i have glove box ecu...so i might run the wire from behind the cluster over to the ecu in the glove box...do you know if the wire tho is supposed to be purple/white behind the cluster? I had a lot of fun trying out wires for the tach...

i did some searching...but, like i said...i had a couple of questions...never hurts to ask. I pretty much havent touched my hatch much in like 2 years or something so i am kind of out of it when it comes to most of the wiring on the s12s...and it doesnt help that these cars have such awesome wiring issues...hah.
